[-empyre-] Deciphering "The Magic Rat" (1)
Deciphering "The Magic Rat", a web.art work by Alexandre Venera
http://www.eale.hpg.com.br/2002/rat/
Small review by Regina Célia Pinto
1) - FIRST VIEW: (My first impression)
First Window:
A HINT:
"the secret is in the cheese
the cat just seedling the color"
Second Window: (two options)
>Full screen? Open window?
Third window:
>We have to discover an * , if we click it a kind of flute will appear,
if we click it again the flute will disappear. To reach the 4th window we
need to look for the right entrance on the flute.
Then we will enter into a new scene:
A room suggested by three lines (perspective), a rat hole (mouse hole?) in
the wall, a cheese and a small table, a cat is out of the three lines that
suggest the impression of a room space. There are some moving arrows (mouse
pointers) dancing at the left side. The flute (?) is now in our right hand.
Things happen when we click the cat or the cheese.
If we click the exclamation mark (top right) we will see a kind of menu:
. a line,
. a mouse pointer,
. abc,
. a sphere / globalization,
. three mouse pointers,
. a yellow rat (mouse),
. another mouser pointer - a hand,
. a black rat (mouse)
This menu has the same events of the cheese.
2)- SECOND VIEW: Ale's view
"All the artistic effort as individual producer seems to have a sense.
Yes! I am very happy in to share my art and to reward... The
Internet is an exercise of the people's individuality and strangely it
turned more human the human being. I believe in the besides the great media
and also in the on this side of the great media. Therefore it would like to
finish my presentation with a sincere homage for that whole people of the
internet and of the computers (we are us) that is avoiding a total and only
control of the herd.
Play a little with " The Magic Rat "
http://www.eale.hpg.com.br/2002/rat/
That work is unfinished, it lacks the music: a coral of mice intoning
Mozart's "Magic Flute", but that is easy of you to imagine..."
3)-Third View / My conclusion (perhaps tomorrow).
However I would like to repeat
I loved this work. Browsering it I reach the exotic charm from the other
thought and the
limit of mine. The impossibility of think that is patent for me.
Best wishes,
Regina
